Collective worship is an integral part of daily life in our school; we believe that this is an important time for us to come together as a school community, a time to reflect and a time to join our voices in song and prayer. Collective worship enables the whole school community to learn about different cultures and faiths, current news stories and to consider how events and people, now and in the past, impact on our lives. Children are encouraged to take an active part in collective worship no matter their age or personal beliefs.
Collective worship takes place both in the school hall and in classrooms. We use a range of resources (Picture News, Lyfta, Bible texts etc) to help us deliver worship to all age ranges across the school.
Picture News: provides a variety of current news stories designed to provide opportunities for children to learn from our world and develop a respect for others' beliefs and faiths. Picture News stories link to our vision of creating pioneers and leaders of the future, as the children learn how they can become involved in making a change.
Lyfta: storyworlds which transport the children into another world, learning about people and communities from around the globe. Each weekly storyworld is planned to link to both our own values and the British Value introduced through Picture News. Lyfta time happens both in the hall and in classrooms for the younger children.
Open the Book: we are thrilled to welcome the Open the Book team in to our school on a monthly basis to celebrate the Word of God, through engaging retelling of important stories from the Bible. Children join in with the story telling, learning about the teachings of Jesus Christ and how these are still true today.
