Welcome to our class page. We’re kicking off an exciting year full of inspiring learning, creative thinking, and memorable moments. This is where we’ll showcase all the fantastic things happening in our classroom—from brilliant ideas to proud achievements. Keep checking in to see what we’ve been up to!
We had a visit from the Planetarium this week. In the time before and after our session, we worked in groups to create a poster about the Solar System and then presented it to the rest of the class!
Building on our Bhangra dance skills from the last few weeks, we created our own routines today! Enjoy our videos!
*Videos had to be shortened due to size.
**Some children chose not to be filmed.
This half term in PE, our Wednesday session focuses on dance. This week, we learned some dance moves for Bhangra style dancing. They are named, roly poly, moustache, rainbow and firework due to the shapes you make with your arms. Ask your children to show you!
Week beginning: 20th October
This week, we did our end of unit assessment for Science. For this, we went round the school grounds to find what living things we could find. We also talked about what we might have seen before (e.g. squirrels, cats) that weren't here currently, but also what might be around in different seasons (e.g. daffodils in spring). We then used this list of living things to create a food chain and a classification key to demonstrate our understanding of living things and grouping them.
This half term, we have been learning some sketching skills. We have looked specifically at tone and how to use pressure and/or layering to achieve different tones with the same medium. We tried first with sketching pencils and then with charcoal too.
In PE, we have been learning skills relating to netball. We have been practising different throwing types: chest pass, overhead pass, and bounce pass. The children have worked hard to get these techniques right, and with their catching skills too. Next week, we will be moving on to intercepting the ball as part of netball game skills.
This week, during ICT with Miss Balderson, Class 3 have worked fantastically to create dataloggers using microbits! The class coded their own device and then used it to collect different temperatures around the class using their knowledge of the sensors! Well done class 3!
This week, the children were challenged to create a bridge that could hold three toys cars on. They were given paper, tape, glue and scissors to create this. The children worked in pairs or threes to come up with an idea and execute their plan. It was wonderful to see such great teamwork skills amongst the groups and how they problem solved when a test run went wrong! Take a look at the photos and see which bridges were successful!
